What started as a few new businesses in Jefferson Park shoe-stringing together a small event over beers at Jefferson Park Pub, back in 2014,has become a great annual tradition for the community! The Jefferson Square Holiday Affair celebrated it’s 5th anniversary this year with a great turn out from vendors and the community on Black Friday. It was a great excuse for the whole family to get out and avoid the malls!
The early winter weather made for a festive setting, but there was plenty to warm the spirits of attendees. There were visits from Santa and Elsa with a photo-worthy backdrop set up in The Pantry. DJ Prodeezy kept it lively mixing holiday classic.
And for those looking to warm up from the inside out, options abounded. Sarto’s and The Pantry had chestnuts roasting and hot cocoa offered with and without an additional splash of cheer. An expanded Square Bar offered up a Mimosa & Bloody Mary Bar with lots of build-your-own accoutrements and was armed with a big screen to watch college football.
While the mobile speakeasy stubbornly decided it didn’t want to move in the cold, Locke + CO moved their operation for a pop-up speakeasy at Sarto’s cicchetti bar. Owen Locke was definitely warming spirits with his prohibition style Locke + CO Aspen Rye cocktails featuring Aperol and Campari.
There was ample shopping for all of those looking to get ahead on their holiday list: really too many to mention. But most interesting holiday present option goes to Wyofish who was selling fish hide “leather” products. And favorite mobile boutiques Wholly Craze and Seventy West offered great fashion and a warm space to shop. TheYarningBemis is always popular, but was a must stop and shop for the event. And
